‘I don’t wanna die’: 911 calls launched from semi dangling off I-65 in Louisville – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (WLKY) — Newly launched 911 calls from a semitruck hanging over Interstate 65 close to the Kennedy Bridge give perspective from the driving force and those that witnessed it.

The crash occurred round 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers stated a semi jackknifed, sending the cab of it over the aspect of the I-65 overpass.

Within the 911 calls, the driving force of the semi was panicked as he dangled over the aspect of the freeway.

“I’m simply hanging over the bridge,” he stated to the 911 operator. “I don’t wanna die.”

He advised the operator he was afraid to make any strikes for worry it might need trigger the semi to fall.

“I’m even afraid to maneuver within the truck proper now,” the driving force stated. “I’m simply trying on the floor proper now.”

“Are you able to please keep on the telephone?” he requested.

The operator calmly assured the person that officers had been on the best way to assist, and kindly obliged his request to remain on the road with him till they arrived.

Whereas the operator stayed on the road with the driving force to assist him keep calm, he was panicked about how crews would rescue him.

“I don’t even know… how am I purported to get out of right here?” he requested.

To which the operator responded: “They know what they’re doing. As quickly as the hearth division will get there, they know what to do.”

It took first responders about half-hour to tug the driving force to security. They needed to carry out a maneuver referred to as a “decide off.” It was the identical one they used when rescuing the driving force from the semi that crashed off the Clark Memorial Bridge in 2024.
