COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) — A passenger bus skidded off a cliff in Sri Lanka’s tea-growing hill nation on Sunday, killing eight individuals and injuring greater than 30 others.
The accident occurred within the early hours of Sunday close to the city of Kotmale, about 140 kilometers (86 miles) east of Colombo, the capital, in a mountainous space of central Sri Lanka, police mentioned. The driving force was injured and amongst these admitted to the hospital for remedy, police added.
The bus was operated by a state-run journey firm, police mentioned.
Lethal bus accidents are frequent in Sri Lanka, particularly within the mountainous areas, usually resulting from reckless driving and poorly maintained and slender roads.
