MILAN (AP) — Rescuers on Monday freed a cave explorer who was injured by falling rocks some 40 meters (greater than 130 toes) beneath the floor in Italy’s northwestern Piedmont area whereas on an outing with pals, based on Italy’s mountain rescue corps.
The 63-year-old man, who sustained a head damage, was dropped at the floor by crews who used explosives to widen the cave at key junctures. In addition they handed by two 15-meter (49-foot) vertical shafts and a collection of slim winding passages.
Medical groups reached the injured man after the accident on Sunday and handled him inside a heated tent whereas the trail out was being cleared. He remained in good situation.
The incident occurred within the Abisso Paperino cave system, which extends 170 meters (560 toes) underground close to the city of Ormea in Cuneo province.
