Scammers are pretending to be from the Humane Society, calling homeowners who’ve posted about lacking pets on websites like Pawboost, Nextdoor, and Fb. They declare the pet has been discovered injured and demand cash for emergency surgical procedure.
Not too long ago, officers mentioned, two individuals misplaced over $1,000 every after falling for the scheme.
The scammers are spoofing the shelter’s cellphone quantity, making it appear legit.
