Considered one of 2024’s most anticipated Miami eating places, Mimi Chinese language, opened on the finish of December, bringing an acclaimed Toronto restaurant (and celeb magnet) to the U.S. The restaurant, from Huge Hug Hospitality, was based by Culinary Director David Schwartz and Brandon Marek of Harlo Leisure. Schwartz alongside Govt Chef Braden Chong, who’re on the helm of Toronto’s authentic Mimi Chinese language and Sunnys Chinese language, will lead the eating places kitchen. The cooks are honing in on — not reinventing — one of the best of regional Chinese language delicacies at Mimi. Menu highlights on the dramatic, subtle Alton Highway area embrace specialties from Hunan, Taiwan, Sichuan, and Guangdong, like Hunan chili sea bass, hidden crispy hen, the 4 Foot Belt Noodle, and Chongqing hidden crispy hen.

The previous chef of world-renowned Mexico Metropolis restaurant Pujol is making waves in Miami with Bistro 8, which opened on January 10. Chef Pancho Ibáñez leads the kitchen on Calle Ocho, serving up elevated Central American consolation meals like chuletas de cordero (lamb chops with mashed potatoes), cangrejo (king crab with brioche and ikura), and roasted hen with escabeche. Bistro 8 is from Shōwa Hospitality, the oldsters behind Michelin-starred omakase restaurant Hiden and the extra informal Taco Stand, who just lately tapped Ibáñez as director of culinary operations. Gentle and ethereal with an ‘80s vibrancy, terrazzo flooring, and blue and pink accents, Bistro 8 fulfills a Little Havana aesthetic.

Throwback glamour is the vibe at Room 55, the newly-opened rooftop lounge on the Pelican Resort in South Seaside. Its debut helps the resort mark its thirtieth anniversary on Ocean Drive, celebrated in 2024, with Gatsby-esque moodiness, nostalgic cocktails, and uncooked bar bites like tuna tartare and oysters. Go to after dusk Wednesday via Sunday for the complete speakeasy expertise, a retro drink (like a quince bitter), and oceanfront breezes.
